Phoenix
This incredibly handsome boy is Phoenix. He will turn 2 years old on December 5th. Phoenix was going to be someone’s service dog but when they x-rayed his hips he had dysplasia so can’t be a service dog. He had his first vet appointment where he was neutered and had all 4 legs x-rayed. It looked like one leg had fibrous dysplasia, which is a very rare disease. It is where inside the bone fibrous tissue grows instead of bone, which leaves the bone weak to possibly fracture.
Phoenix had an appointment with a surgeon who does not think he is in danger of breaking that femur as there is a fairly thick wall of bone on the outside. He said if it should break he could repair it. Phoenix is now pending adoption and if needed our rescue will pay for the x-rays by the same doctor in 6 months.
Phoenix is an incredible boy that our President of the rescue says “I would love to adopt Phoenix!” He can’t get close enough to his people and if he could crawl into your skin he would as he just wants to be that close. Phoenix would be happiest having another dog in the home to play with and someone who is home a lot more than gone too many hours at work.
There isn’t a more loving boy than Phoenix! He is good with other dogs and loves giving his people kisses. We do not know how he would be with cats, but he is squirrel crazy so it is possible smaller fast animals might excite him too much.
Phoenix is currently in a foster home where he is pending adoption. You too can become qualified to foster-to-adopt a golden retriever. Please read “How to Adopt” and follow the directions from there.
