Meet Nougat, a 5 year old female golden retriever. Nougat is good with other dogs. We do not know how she would be with cats. Nougat will need a physical fenced yard and another dog in your home as a pal.

Nougat came into our program on November 5th and was diagnosed as positive for heartworms the next day. Now she’ll need to go through a 4 month long series of injections that kill the adult heartworms. 

These injections can cause muscle pain, soreness, inflammation, and discomfort. Some dogs may also experience side effects such as fever, lethargy, and loss of appetite. She will need cage rest for a good during treatment.  Nougat had her first injection on November 7th. All this could have been prevented by providing heartworm preventative.
